An ENTYVIO infusion can be used for the treatment of moderate to severe Crohn’s Disease or ulcerative colitis. It is often used when other medications haven’t been effective or can’t be safely used by the patient. After the initial treatment at two and six weeks, follow-up treatments happen every eight weeks.

What is ENTYVIO?

ENTYVIO is an infusion treatment that provides relief from the painful symptoms of  ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.

Ulcerative colitis and Chron’s disease are chronic auto-immune conditions that cause  inflammation in the digestive tract, causing lasting damage. ENTYVIO works by preventing inflamation, and minmizing the long-term effects.

What Does ENTYVIO Treat?

ENTYVIO is designed for moderate to severe Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. It is specifically intended for people who fit one of the following descriptions.

  • You have to take steroids to deal with flare-ups.
  • Other medicines for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis haven’t worked effectively.
  • You can’t tolerate other medications for Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis.

ENTYVIO for Crohn’s Disease

When you take ENTYVIO for Crohn’s disease, you will typically receive 300 mg intravenously. Your initial doses of ENTYVIO will be at zero, two, and six weeks. Afterward, you will receive the same dose every eight weeks.

ENTYVIO for Ulcerative Colitis

If you take ENTYVIO for ulcerative colitis, you will generally receive 300 mg at zero, two, and six weeks. Your subsequent doses will be eight weeks apart.

Because ENTYVIO works to reduce inflammation by decreasing a part of your immune response, you may be more likely to get sick. To prevent infections, patients are fully vaccinated before beginning treatment.

How Does ENTYVIO Work?

Ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease trigger an excessive amount of white blood cells in the gut. This leads to inflammation and harm to your overall gut health.

An ENTYVIO infusion works by blocking these inflammation-causing cells. Doing this, it can prevent inflammation from damaging your gut.

ENTYVIO for ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease is prescribed by a doctor along with a referral to get infusion treatments. Once you have a prescription, and doctor’s referral, you can choose where to receive your treatment.

While adverse reactions are fairly rare, side effects can occasionally occur. Some people may develop a fever, nausea, headache, fatigue, bronchitis, back pain, sinusitis, pain in their extremities, joint pain, rash, or pruritus. Because this medication works to alleviate inflammation by preventing the immune system from producing too many white blood cells, you may be more susceptible to colds, influenza, or sinusitis.

How Much Does ENTYVIO Cost?

An ENTYVIO infusion can cost different amounts depending on where you get the infusion, your insurance carrier, and other factors. At Infusion for Health, you can often enjoy lower prices than you would at a hospital. In addition, our treatment center offers premium features and amenities to make your treatment process more comfortable.

In many cases, a single vial of ENTYVIO will cost $6,700. This doesn’t include the cost of having a treatment center administer the drug or any other fees. Luckily, many insurers will pay for some of the cost, so it’s important to check with your insurance provider to see what they will cover before you start your treatment.  At Infusion for Health, we work with our patient and the providers to identify the best coverage and insurance plan options.
